Butter coffee for weight loss (otherwise known as bulletproof coffee) is a perfect fat filled breakfast. It will help sustain you through busy mornings or other rigorous activities. It’s one of the most basic ketogenic recipes, and the perfect start to a day!
Because this is a beginner’s ketogenic recipe, it doesn’t include too much MCT oil. If you are not used to MCT oil, you can experience stomach pains.
This recipe is not strictly bulletproof coffee, as I am not using mould free coffee for the mixture. I’ve used mould free coffee before and honestly, I don’t see any difference. It’s more expensive and tastes worse than fresh beans.
This is due to the lower intestines toleration to fats.
I’m a coffee fanatic… I take my coffee very seriously. Australians know how to make a good coffee, so trust me when I recommend these products. I truly know what I’m talking about.
The coffee equipment shown in the photos is the best coffee you’ll ever make. It utilises the Wacaco Minipresso Coffee Machine. This will make a better coffee than any Aeropress, Drip or Full-blown Coffee machine, and you can take it anywhere!
Its the only handheld device that will make creme on a coffee, and it tastes insanely good. I wouldn’t recommend this product if I didn’t believe in it 100%.
The hand grinder that I use is a Porlex hand grinder set to 3 twists back from fully closed on the grinder adjustment piece. My girlfriend purchased this for me, and I have never looked back! Having freshly ground coffee tastes incredible!
You can also substitute the butter for Cream which will also make a suitable drink, however, you miss out on all the benefits of butter.

Hello,
I do try to stick to a Keto lifestyle but I have also incorporated intermittent fasting, mainly 16/8. What are your thoughts on having BP coffee during the 16 hour fasting period? I’m thinking it does not have much of an effect, if any on blood sugar just added calories, correct? Thank you for all your ideas with Keto recipes!

Hey Sylvia,
Technically, using coffee and fats will not give you the complete benefits of a water fast, but I always apply the 80/20 rule. 80 percent of the effects will be there even if you have coffee, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much 🙂

What is the name of the small hand held blender you used at the end ?

Hi I bought MCT oil but it gave me terrible stomach cramps and made me feel very nauseous. I can tolerate coconut oil but what is the best way to introduce MCT? I do have IBS so wondering if that’s why my stomach can’t handle it.
FatForWeightLoss says
Hi Donna,
The best way is to only take 1 teaspoon at a time, slowly building up to larger amounts. It take a while for your intestines to get used to the fat 🙂

Can I ask if we can make a cafe au lait with this? I like weak coffee in the winter and I love whipping cream!
Lynda says
Where do you buy it? Any health food store?
Teri says
What is MCT oil?
FatForWeightLoss says
MCT Oil is Medium Chain Triglycerides Oil. Its coconut oil, with the short chain and long chains removed to create a substance that is extremely powerful.

Hello, I was wondering can I use ghee instead of butter?
And may I add a little coconut milk or almond milk and almond extract?
Aaron Day says
Hi Britney!
You most certainly can 🙂 You can do anything you like!
