Keto Guacamole – Low Carb Avocado Recipe
Keto Guacamole is a dip based from avocado, the ketogenic saviour ingredient. It was first developed by the Aztecs in Mexico, and later integrated into the south American cuisine.
Avocado is a fantastic ingredient for the ketogenic diet. Not only is it packed with mono unsaturated fats, but it is also a super-rich source of potassium. Many people think that bananas contain more potassium then avocados, but they are wrong! Bananas contain approximately 422mg of potassium, which is about 11% of your daily recommended intake. Compared to avocado nutrition, avocados contain around 745mg, which is almost double that of a banana.
Guacamole is mashed ripe avocados with sea salt. Traditionally this is done with a mortar and pestle. You then can add any of the following ingredients to mix, generate or create your own masterpiece. Tomato, onion, garlic, lemon, lime, chilli, cayenne pepper and coriander (cilantro), basil, jalapeno or additional seasonings.
This recipe is just my spin on the traditional guacamole, but feel free to be creative and incorporate your own tantalising mixtures into play with your family, friends or enemies (add extra chilli). Pictured is my low carb bread rolls cut into slices.
As I write this recipe, I’m getting ready for my first overseas bike trip. You will probably be reading this recipe once I’m already there. This dip is a perfect low carb snack post ride, eaten with some low carb crackers.
There a plenty of keto friendly snacks that you can use whilst out cycling. I love taking nuts and seeds in a small Ziplock bag, or coconut flakes and coconut fat bombs.
Many recipes remind you of your own history, childhood you’re a particular moment in life. Make sure that when you make this recipe, you share it with someone. By changing someone else’s life, you’re also enriching the world and changing the lives of others around you, as well as your own.
