Keto Sausage Rolls
I’m really excited to share this Keto Sausage Rolls recipe. There’s not much better in life than a good sausage roll at a party. One of my coworkers (let’s call him The Herminator) stumbled across “sausage mince” at Coles, which is essentially the stuffing from the inside of a sausage that comes in a prepackaged plastic roll. Woolworths also has this too.
If you’re wondering why you would ever want to buy sausage mince in a roll, or even cook with it, hear me out. What The Herminator discovered was that it’s very low carb, and gluten free! WHAT…?
Keto pizza is an essential recipe that most Keto warriors have up their sleeve. The base is low car because it’s mostly just cheese. What if this base could be used as a pastry casing for Keto Sausage Rolls?
In terms of Macros, this recipe pretty much nails Ketogenic portions. I have been told however that the sausage mince contains a small amount of rice flour. This is not strictly keto, so avoid the sausage mince and just use beef mince mixed with almond flour, and this should give you the same results.
Sometimes people refer to this recipe as “Pigs in Blankets”, but in Australia we call them Sausage Rolls. They usually line the bakery windows with meat pies and small packets of sugar filled tomato sauce… best avoid these bakery goods and make your own!
Mustard is forgiving as a dipping sauce as its usually low carb. Its basically mustard seeds and vinegar mixed with water and spices. Ditch the tomato sauce (unless you have a sugar free version) and stick with plain or mustard.
Shown below is his sausage roll masterpiece, so email me or comment on this post to show your appreciation!
Keto Sausage Rolls. Yum!!
Keto Sausage Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 Large Eggs
- 1 Tbsp Almond Flour
- 150 g Sausage Mince
Instructions
- Add 1 cup of cheese to a bowl and microwave for 90 seconds. Add in an egg and almond flour and mix well with a fork.
- Put the mixture between two sheets of grease proof paper and roll out. Make sure the mixture is not too thin otherwise the sausage meat will expand and break the outside. Put the sausage meat on the inside and roll! Add to the oven and cook for 15 mins @ 180C / 350 F

Hi Aaron,
Love following a fellow Aussie and great to see some easy party style food on the menu for the footy!
Quick question… do you flavour your sausage rolls with anything eg sauted onion; garlic powder; herbs ect or just leave them plain. I’m cooking for the AFL GF and want to make sure these are really tasty!

FatForWeightLoss says
You have either used a very large tin, or you haven’t added xanthan gum.
Fiona Pratt says
How much flour do you use with beef mince. Thank you fiona
FatForWeightLoss says
Hey Fiona,
I’d use 1/8th of the amount of mince. Hope that helps

Hi Aaron
I am new to Keto and finding it tricky to get my head around, but enjoying meals so far. I have 2 questions:
Does it take longer to get into a Keto state if your metabolism has always been slow. I’ve only lost 1.5 kg in a month.
Could you please explain what Zanthium gum is. Is there a common substitute and where do I get it from?
Thank you.
FatForWeightLoss says
1 – Yes, I believe metabolic damage plays a role in weightloss.
2 – Xanthan gum – https://www.fatforweightloss.com.au/why-use-xanthan-gum/
