Ginger and Clove Keto Cookies Recipe
Ginger cookies (or ginger nut biscuits) are a delicious keto cookies recipe for the occasional sweet treat. Having cookies is a luxury item, however making them for the occasional snack during the week will take the edge off feeling like you’re on a “diet”.
These keto cookies also go great with coconut milk, but just make sure the milk has no added sugar.
Although ginger no longer grows wild, it is thought to have originated on the Indian subcontinent because the ginger plants grown in India show the largest amount of genetic variation.
Ginger was exported to Europe via India in the first century AD as a result of the lucrative spice trade and was used extensively by the Romans. We are pretty lucky we can now buy these spices at the local supermarket!
Ginger is used extensively in many different cuisines, but in Western cuisine, ginger is traditionally used mainly in sweet foods such as ginger ale, gingerbread, ginger snaps, parkin and ginger biscuits.

Myoga (Zingiber mioga ‘Roscoe’) appears in Japanese cuisine; the flower buds are the part eaten.
Cloves are the aromatic flower buds of a tree in the family Myrtaceae, Syzygium aromaticum. They are native to the Maluku Islands in Indonesia.
Cloves are especially high in manganese, which has exhibited efficiency in controlling the level of sugar in human blood. This may further prevent the occurrence of certain diseases like diabetes.
Cloves are commercially harvested primarily in Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Madagascar, Zanzibar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania. Cloves are available throughout the year. Cloves are even added to Indonesian cigarettes… pity so many people still smoke them.
Strange Fact: Clove oil can be used to anaesthetise fish, and prolonged exposure to higher doses is considered a humane means of euthanasia.

Ginger and Clove Cookies
- Pre heat the oven to 375 f (180c). Mix all the dry ingredients together into a bowl
- Mix all the wet ingredients together in with the dry ingredients. Roll the mixture into 12-14 balls and press flat with a fork.
- Place baking paper onto a baking tray and place the cookies in the oven for 12-15 mins or until slightly brown on top. Keep in an airtight container.
