90 Second Keto Bread is a super easy recipe made with simple ingredients that can literally be made in 90 SECONDS!
The combination of simple ingredients gives this keto friendly bread structure for your favorite toppings and stuffings that you can make in almost no time with only a microwave.
This microwavable keto bread is perfect for lunchtime when work is busy, or even for breakfast to put a few fried eggs on.
These pieces of 90 second keto bread actually make great English muffins as well, or the perfect toast to make some delicious eggs benedict.
Spread your favorite toppings on the bread, or toast it for a delicious crunch.
Almond flour is super healthy, and often considered one of the healthiest nut flours in the world.
Melted butter, peanut butter, almond butter and Vegemite (Aussie tradition) are all great spreads to put on keto bread.
Can I Make 90 second keto bread With Coconut Flour?
You can most certainly make this recipe using only coconut flour (or sesame flour, if allergic to nuts and coconut as well).
Simply use:
- 3 tablespoons of coconut flour
(Instead of 1/4 cup almond flour + 1 Tbsp coconut flour like the recipe suggests)
Can I make this keto bread dairy free?
This bread can be made easily with coconut oil instead of butter, which also makes it paleo friendly.
Substitute 1 tablespoon of coconut oil for 1 tablespoon of butter.
You can also try olive oil, which makes a delicious substitute as well.
Does this keto bread taste eggy?
This bread is the least eggy keto bread of all, simply because the egg is cooked thoroughly from the outside in by using a microwave, instead of an ordinary oven.
Best of all, you can just make enough to taste test, to see if this recipe is right for you, instead of making a whole loaf of keto bread, and finding out later.
Can I make keto bread in the oven?
You can make this in the oven, instead of the microwave, simply by:
- Using an oven-safe mug/ramekin
- Setting your oven to 180C (355F) and cooking for 15 minutes.
I do recommend you toast this bread, only because it tastes better this way. This is up to you, but I always find it better.
Don’t hesitate to try this bread! It’s similar to a wholemeal slice that is in whatever shape your nearest container is in.

I’m a bit confused is this for making 2 mug cakes or 1? I used the 2 serve measure and made one? So I would need to double the cals and net carbs because I ate the whole thing? It turned out amazing! I made a bacon and eggs mcmuffin.

One bread gives you 2 servings, that’s how I understand 🙂

Hi Aaron, I am going to try this today, jus that I am not fond of coconut oil, so can I use olive oil or butter instead? 😉 if this works out I will love you for life 😀
FatForWeightLoss says
Butter would be your best option! 🙂
Emily says
I have tried both butter and olive oil and personally liked the olive oil better. If you use butter be sure to melt it first.

Tried this bread this morning and it is delicious! The recipes and the advice on your website are an invaluable resource. Your format reminds me of glossy cooking magazines, which is nice since I don’t think there are any devoted to this lifestyle…yet. 🙂 Thank you so much Aaron.

Thanks so much Jen!

I’ve followed your recipe exactly, Aaron, and having tried a whole bunch of other mug bread recipes, can truthfully attest that this is the only one that doesn’t taste like eggs. I’m not sure how you managed that – is it the coconut flour and oil? It doesn’t taste like coconut to me either. I also realized that I shouldn’t toast it very much, so it doesn’t go too dry – might add a bit more oil next time, or try olive. I may also season it with garlic and salt. Thanks so much – this marks the end of my search for the perfect simple keto “sandwich bun!”

Thanks so much, Cat! Truly a great comment 🙂

I am allergic to eggs, anaphylactic. Not to just chicken but to all poultry. Do you think an egg replacer would work? and if so, do you think i would need to alter any of the other ingredients? thanks!
FatForWeightLoss says
Hi Terri. I’ve actually never tried egg replacer in this recipe. However, I have tried ground up flaxseed with water, but it never really worked out. I would try egg replacer first and see how you go 🙂

Thank you thank you thank you……I’ve been dying to find a recipe i like since I do not like cloud bread and this most definitely works. I’m not much of a cook so is there anyway I can make a loaf of this instead of just a mug?
FatForWeightLoss says
Hi Lori – I’d suggest checking out my keto bread recipe if you’re more looking for a loaf type recipe –

Can’t eat almonds – any substitute for Almond flour and if so how much?
FatForWeightLoss says
Sesame flour – same amount 🙂
Adela says
I made this today and is more like a dessert bread, rather sweet and coconuty. The texture is great 3)
Is there a savory version of this, maybe with some seeda or flax inside?
Thanks
Adela
FatForWeightLoss says
Hey Adela 🙂 interesting that you found it sweet, maybe you could try my keto seeded bread? Search my site for that recipe and it should pop right up 🙂
Wanda says
I LOVE this. I made it, and added a little Trader Joe’s “Everything Bagel” seasoning, onion powder, and flax seeds before cooking in the microwave. Turned out great! I am thinking could also add a dash of lemon extract, poppy seeds, and a couple drops Stevia or other low carb sweetener. Use your imagination. When I told my husband I was going to make him “90 second bread” he wouldn’t believe it. Once he tried it, he’s hooked! And he wants me to put the ingredients together so that he can take it to work and make a “Loaf” for a coworker who is doing Keto too. Thank you for this amazing recipe!

That’s so awesome Wanda. So glad you liked it 🙂
Fatima says
Got the ingredients last night!
Can’t wait to try this! 🙂
question: is one mug one serve?
TIA!
FatForWeightLoss says
1 Mug is 2 serves, you can usually cut it into 4 slices, so 2 slices is 1 serve 🙂

1 tbsp Olive oil

I am new to Keto, and while I don’t miss bread, I still needed a breakfast option. I just pulled these out of the oven and while it’s nowhere close to bread, I’m impressed with how solid they are. I added 1/2 tsp nutritional yeast, a pinch of salt, and used avocado oil instead of coconut oil. I divided the recipe into two buttered ramekins and baked them at 350. After 10 mins in the oven I sprinkled some grated cheese on top and baked them for another 5 mins. Next time I’ll make enough for the week. Thanks for the quick and yummy recipe!
